Who am I ?
I do not know for sure yet, but a standard answer would probably go like this: I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Universidad de Antioquia, Colombia, where I developed my research studying the neutral and adaptive genetic variation of the endangered Antioquia Wren (Thryophilus sernai; Zapata et al. 2020). Later, I developed my Master’s research in Springfield, Missouri, studying the sex-specific territorial behavior of the Carolina wren (Thryothorus ludovicianus) using a stereo playback approach. Currently I will be developing my PhD research studying bird vocal communication in Santa Rosa National Park, Costa Rica, under the supervision of Dr. Daniel Mennill. My main academic interests come from two primary topics of interest: meaning and causality. As I have delved into these topics, I’ve been enthralled by the path that the web of causes and effects have bestowed upon me, so I have developed a fondness for areas such as linguistics, cognitive ethology, Bayesian statistics, and causal inference.
